Yesterday my boyfriend and I, together with Pei Pei, went to this restaurant named Piccadilly near our college for the very first time. Well it shouldn't be known as a restaurant. To me it looks more like a cafe as there were more students sipping ice lemon tea and milo ais than those who were really eating, plus they played the songs really loud.
And you know what was the funny thing?
The CD hang in the middle of the way. Ella-ella-ella became Ek-ek-ek-la-la-la. And none of the waiters or the waitresses were bothered to turn it off until like 10 minutes later. Perhaps the CD was a pirated one, eh?

So I was quite impressed with its food ordering system as it is all computerised. The waitress came to take our order and key them into the computer without needing to go all the way to the kitchen. It was all done very efficiently.
So the boyfriend ordered seafood fried rice, I asked for grilled chicken and Pei Pei went for Seafood Udon. I was anticipating for good food!
And at the end it all tasted really salty! *puiks*
And then we asked for the bill and the waitress came really fast with the bill in hand. A total of RM 34.45. So the boyfriend gave her RM 35 and the other waiter came back with the change.
While Pei Pei and I were looking at the bill to further conclude who pays how much for what food, the boyfriend looked at me with a question mark on his face.
Boyfriend: How much is it that they are supposed to give me back?
Me: Er, 55 cents?
Boyfriend: But they only gave me 50 cents back! Where is my 5 cents?!

Me: Huh?! *pulls over the boyfriend's palm idiotically to see if he had calculated wrongly*
Boyfriend: *dulan* cheat my 5 cents!
(Let me demonstrate to you how the boyfriend looks like when he gets dulan)

All correct, hor?
Now you go further down the bill. How much is RM 31.30 + RM 3.13?
Yes I allow you to take out your calculators. Go, go take!
RM 34.43, no? So how did it get to RM 34.45?!?!
It looks like they have started the rounding mechanism even before 1st April. So effective hor? A few minutes ago I was impressed with all its systems being computerised, and now I also get dulan. Certainly the waiters and the waitresses with foreign nationalities wouldn't be smart enough to design such a software to run the entire cafe, no?
And so I assume the boss himself/herself knows that he/she is overcharging the customers a few cents, in advance. Of course, some people might argue that the boss is preparing for 1st April, for the rounding mechanism, and hence the cafe seems to be overcharging the customers right now.
Alright, maybe I am very kedekut lah. Maybe I shouldn't have complaint about the rounding mechanism being applied in advance.
But still, people, they are supposed to give us back 55 cents and yet they had only given us 50 cents in return. What on earth has happened to our 5 cents? Oh you mean to say it is as well rounded to the nearest 10 cents? Oh great why didn't I know about this new rounding mechanism?

Cheh! See me small kid, want to bluff me is it? I read newspapers too okay, eventhough I admit that sometimes I read the entertainment section more, but still, I do read okay?
It's either it has as well cheated our 5 cents, or the waiters or waitresses have taken them as their own tips. End of story.
And we got so dulan because they cheated our 7 cents in total! I know lah 7 cents is just so little kan. But still, 7 cents is 7 cents. Why should we pay more? And the boyfriend and I have been very kedekut. Everytime we go to small restaurants or cafes like this, we don't usually leave tips for them. Why? Because they are charging 10% service charge already! Isn't that more than enough tips?

And the cafe/waiter/waitresses easily and shamelessly conned our 7 cents.
Great. For that 7 cents, we have decided to never spend a single penny in that restaurant again regardless of how nice the food can be.
Next time, try to cheat my few cents again lah you morons.
